  --Rural Business Cooperative Service,. The Rural Development mission area was created in 1994 as a result of the reorganization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Rural Development consists of three new services: the Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS), Rural Utilities Service (RUS), and Rural Housing Service (RHS). The mission of RBS is to enhance the quality of life for all rural Americans by providing leadership in building competitive businesses and cooperatives that can prosper in the global marketplace.

Our mission is to help vulnerable people avoid slipping into poverty, to alleviate the suffering of people caught in poverty and to assist those who, with help, would be able to lift themselves out of poverty. As responsible and caring people we will aid in their struggle to overcome poverty.
  
  The Volunteer Way's goal is to eliminate poverty and help all people in poverty to be the most they can be and to have a piece of the American Dream. The United States is the richest country in the world and we produce enough food to feed most of the world, so it is our goal to have no American at risk of going hungry.
